2007 Lake Superior Youth Symposium Outcomes:
Students in Action!

Copper Country Home School Group - The four home school students who attended the symposium conducted a storm drain stenciling project in the business district surrounding Huron Creek in Houghton. Link to photos

They also distributed a flyer (Link to Protect the Portage Waterway & Lake Superior Keep Wastes Out of Storm Drains! or as a PDF ) to local businesses to post and hand out.

Lake Linden-Hubbell High School Group - In June 2007, symposium students led a clean up of Torch Lake shoreline in the Village of Lake Linden with a group of 3rd graders.

On September 16, 2007, the symposium students participated in the Great Lakes Beach Cleanup at Schoolcraft Township Park.

Gwinn Middle School Group - In May 2007, symposium students designed brochures to inform the public about Lake Superior water pollution and waste concerns and conducted the 3rd annual Trash Bash, collecting 15,149 pounds of trash over the past three years.
